Ana de Armas Thrives in Vermont A New Life Away from the Craziness of Hollywood
Ana de Armas, Cuba-born actress popular for films like Knives Out and Blonde, has adopted an off-grid, tranquil life in rural Vermont, far away from the glamor and noise of Hollywood. In regard to the stunning $7 million estate she moved into in 2022, she expressed how oblivion surrounds her-the surroundings being poles apart from one filled with maddening life on the roads of LA.
A Quiet Escape
The 36-year-old actress opened up about her decision to step away from Hollywood during an interview with E! I can collect myself and only bring there who I want to be with. I have my little cocoon there,
Leaving Los Angeles Behind
De Armas had moved to Vermont as part of several key transitional events occurring in rapid succession within her life, including her very public breakup with actor Ben Affleck back in 2021.
The two had met on set during the filming of the 2019 thriller Deep Water and went into a whirlwind romance that was shortened by their different wishes concerning the future. While Affleck wanted to stay in Los Angeles for the sake of his children, de Armas longed to get out of town for various reasons related to privacy and the intrusion of paparazzi.
De Armas also mentioned a reason for her relocation: her highly publicized, looked-under-a-microscope relationship with Affleck. “Going through it [myself] confirmed my thoughts about, ‘This is not the place for me to be,'” de Armas related in an interview with Elle. “It became a little bit too much. There’s no escape. “There’s no way out.” She said of Los Angeles, “It’s an anxious city, always the feeling of something which you don’t have, something missing.
Embracing Change
The star of Blonde had lived in California for almost a decade when she realized it was time to move on. “You just feel it when it’s time to change,” de Armas said to E! News. “Look out for yourself. There’s a time when you learn what’s good for you and what’s not. What serves you the most? Pay attention to that and do something.” Moving to Vermont has given her the time and space to attend to her well-being and to what is truly most important to her: privacy, peace, and self-care.
Though she moved directly to New York City after the split with Affleck, de Armas finally chose quiet countryside Vermont as her place of residence, where she stays with her current boyfriend, Tinder VP Paul Boukadakis. The two enjoyed a private life together, away from the noisy scenes that filled the actress’s previous life.
A Bright Future
While de Armas has stepped in the back door into privacy when it comes to her personal life, her career is still bright. She recently starred with Sydney Sweeney in the thriller Eden and received critical acclaim for Blonde, which earned her an Oscar nomination for her portrayal of Marilyn Monroe.
She moved away from Hollywood, but de Armas remains passionate about her acting career and is grateful for that recognition. She once referred to being nominated for an Oscar as “surreal” and the “full-circle” of her career.
Through her continued thriving on both personal and professional levels, Ana de Armas shows that there is definitely a place where tranquility and fulfillment can be caught by moving away from craziness in the world.
